About Me
Hi, I’m Tom Higo, a personal trainer with over 18 years’ experience helping adults train confidently, move better, and stay active without pain.
I specialise in working with people over 35 who are busy with work, family, and life — people who want to feel strong and capable again, not broken down by injuries or generic training plans.
My approach is evidence-led and individualised. That means your training is built around:
- Your injury history and current limitations
- What you actually have time and energy for
- Long-term progress, not short-term fixes
I work closely with people dealing with persistent aches, recurring injuries, or a loss of confidence in their bodies — often those who’ve been told to “just stop” or who’ve tried programmes that didn’t account for real life.
I believe good coaching should:
- Reduce pain, not train through it
- Restore athleticism, not just fitness
- Fit around your life, not dominate it
Outside of coaching, I’m a husband, a dad, and heavily involved in grassroots football. I understand first-hand how important it is to stay physically capable — not just for sport, but for everyday life and keeping up with your family.
If you’re looking for thoughtful, structured coaching that prioritises longevity, resilience, and sustainable strength, you’re in the right place.

Testimonials
"Tom has helped me return to multiday racing – not just surviving, but thriving. I remain injury-free and strong thanks to his coaching."

Ian Furlong
Adventure Racer
“I started training with Tom 16 years ago after my diagnosis. Now in my eighth decade, I can deadlift twice my bodyweight, do unassisted pull-ups, and I’m stronger than I’ve ever been. Trust the process—Tom won’t do you wrong.”

Gill Mitchell
“Thank you Tom for helping an ‘old boy’ keep competing! At 56, I won Gold at the WCJJO World Championships in the USA. Tom understands the demands of martial arts and knows how to balance the body to avoid overtraining dominant muscles. He’s also a fantastic motivator—I always leave feeling energised.”

Paul Grant
GB Sport Jujitsu Squad Competitor – Age 56
“Tom is highly knowledgeable and dedicated. I refer patients to him for rehab and strength work, and I’ve seen firsthand how much progress they make. He tailors everything specifically to each client and builds great rapport. He comes highly recommended.”

Eliza Burrell
Senior Physiotherapist
"I am a hairdresser who spends all day on his feet and leaning over clients. I originally came to Tom with lower back pain, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, and a dodgy shoulder and knee. I can safely say (providing I follow his plan), those pains have all but gone. The icing on the cake? I’ve also lost 5 stone and look and feel better than ever. Thanks Tom!"

Lee Rennison
Hair Dresser
“I started training after being diagnosed with osteopenia and wanting to avoid the gym. Tom built my strength, my confidence, and helped improve my knee pain dramatically. I’m now back to competitive tennis and feeling strong.”

FAQ
What do i wear?
Its just us two in my private studio, just wear something comfortable, that you can move freely in.
Where do i park?
Ideally if you park on the drive or failing that, direclty outside my house.
I am not very fit, does that matter?
The goal of personal training is to meet you where you are, not the other way round, i have zero expectations, my only goal is to build a program around you, your current fitness level, movement patterns and individual time constraints.
